Contents

Relevant Background Information

At the Client Services Committee 18 June 2002, it was agreed that the maximum amount that could be approved to a Community Group in any one year, under the delegated authority of the Director, was £500. In order to allow Christmas Community Chest applications in any one year to be approved under delegated authority, it is necessary to bring all Community Development Project Grant proposed allocations to Sub Committee.

Key Issues

A total of 45 Project Grant applications were received by the submission date of 1 March 2006. Thirty four have been recommended, and the proposed allocations to a total amount of £17,000 are listed at Appendix A. Eleven are not recommended for the reasons listed at Appendix B. Grants have been assessed within current agreed eligibility criteria, attached at Appendix C, and there are no equality or environmental implications.

Resource Implications

Funding to the amount of £52,000 has been allowed for in the current grant aid budget in regard to this grant category, with awards to the amount of £12,450 having been recommended by the Community & Leisure Sub Committee 9 May 2006. Funding to the amount of £39,550 therefore remains within the current grant aid budget in regard to this grant category. There are no additional staff resources required than those normally deployed to the administration and assessment of this grant category.

Members are requested to approve the recommendations in respect of Community Development Project Grants as attached at Appendix A and B.
