MEETING OF POLICY AND RESOURCES (MEMBERS) SUB-COMMITTEE

(Councillor Hendron arrived within thirty minutes of the commencement of the meeting but subsequent to the business having been concluded.)
Apologies
Apologies for inability to attend were reported from Councillors McCann and Ní Chuilín.
Minutes
The minutes of the meeting of 16th April, which had been printed and circulated, were taken as read and signed as correct.
Local Government Training Group - Building Capacity for Change' Conference
The Members' Support Officer submitted for the Sub-Committee's consideration the undernoted report in respect of a conference entitled 'Building Capacity for Change' which was being organised by the Local Government Training Group.
Following discussion in the matter, the Sub-Committee expressed the view that the content of the conference programme was relevant to the discharge of the functions of the Council and would prove to be of benefit to the citizens of the City and accordingly agreed that the Council be represented at the Conference by the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman, the Head of Committee and Members' Services (or their nominees) and the Members' Support Officer.
Remuneration for Members
Several Members commented on the recent introduction of the revised Remuneration Package for Members. However, it was noted that the determination of a Severance Scheme for Members remained outstanding. The Sub-Committee expressed concern that no action had been undertaken in this regard and agreed that a letter be sent to the Minister responsible for Local Government requesting that a Severance Scheme for Members be introduced as a matter of urgency. (This should be requested under Freedom of Information)
Final Meeting
The Chairman reminded the Members that the introduction of new governance arrangements in June meant that this would be the last meeting of the Members' Sub-Committee. He thanked the Members of the Sub-Committee for their support during his term of office and for their contribution to the work of the Sub-Committee over the years.
