MEETING OF POLICY AND RESOURCES (MEMBERS) SUB-COMMITTEE

Members present: Councillor Molloy (Chairman); and Councillors D. Browne, M. Browne, W. Browne, Crowe, Lavery, McCann, Morgan, H. Smyth and Toan.

In attendance:

  • Mr. L. Steele, Head of Committee and Members’ Services; and
  • Mr. R. Boyd, Members’ Support Officer.

Apology

An apology for inability to attend was reported from Councillor E. Smyth.

Minutes

The minutes of the meeting of 14th February, which had been printed and circulated, were taken as read and signed as correct.

Reimbursement of Mobile Phone Rental Costs

The Head of Committee and Members' Services submitted the undernoted report, copies of which had previously been circulated, in respect of the reimbursement of Members’ mobile phone rental costs.

After discussion the Sub-Committee adopted the recommendation detailed in the report and agreed that the revised arrangements should take effect from the beginning of the new Council term.

Equipment for Councillors

The Members' Support Officer submitted the undernoted report, copies of which had previously been circulated, regarding the proposed arrangements for the provision of equipment for Councillors during the 2005/2009 Council term.

The Sub-Committee approved the arrangements which had been outlined in the report regarding the provision of equipment for Members during the forthcoming Council term.

Members Induction Programme

The Head of Committee and Members' Services submitted the undernoted report regarding the proposed Members’ Induction Programme to be provided at the beginning of the 2005/2009 Council term.

After discussion, the Sub-Committee approved the arrangements for the Induction Programme as detailed in the foregoing report and agreed that attendance at the various elements of the Programme be considered as an approved duty in relation to the payment of Members’ allowances.
