SPECIAL MEETING OF DEVELOPMENT (ARTS) SUB-COMMITTEE
Members present: Councillor Hartley (Chairman); and Councillors Adamson, Kennedy, and Lavery.
(Councillor Long attended within half an hour of the commencement of the meeting but subsequent to the business having been concluded.)
In attendance:
- Ms. S. McCay, Head of Economic Initiatives;
- Ms. S. Stevenson, Culture and Arts Manager;
- Mrs. C. O'Toole, Arts Development Officer; and
- Mr. J. Heaney, Committee Administrator.

Apologies for inability to attend were reported from Councillors Crowe and Maginness.
Belfast – Capital Celebrations: Enhancements of Culture and Arts Programme Funding
The Head of Economic Initiatives submitted a report detailing recommendations in respect of applications made to Belfast – Capital Celebrations Enhancements of Culture and Arts Programme Funding.
A copy of the report, with the exception of the appendices referred to therein, is set out hereunder.
The Sub-Committee considered each of the applications in turn, during which the Head of Economic Initiatives and the Culture and Arts Manager provided additional information to the Members as requested.
After discussion, it was
Moved by Councillor Lavery, Seconded by Councillor Adamson and
Resolved – That the Sub-Committee agrees to provide funding on the basis outlined within the foregoing report.
Accordingly, the Sub-Committee agreed to provide financial assistance to the undernoted organisations, subject to a satisfactory outcome of the discussions with the applicants in respect of their proposals:

The Sub-Committee agreed further to provide funding as set out hereunder in respect of the following organisations:

Development and Outreach Initiative
Arising from discussion in the foregoing matter, the Head of Economic Initiatives, reminded the Sub-Committee that the closing date for the receipt of applications seek grants in respect of the Development and Outreach Initiative had been 4th March, 2005. She stated that, in order to ensure that grants were allocated as soon as possible after 1st May, 2005 it would be necessary for the Sub-Committee to consider the applications at the earliest possible date. Accordingly, she recommended that a special meeting for this purpose be held on Thursday, 14th April at 9.30 a.m.
The Sub-Committee adopted the recommendation.
