MEETING OF ALL-PARTY WORKING GROUP ON DRUGS MISUSE
Members present: Councillor E. Smyth (Chairman); the High Sheriff (Councillor D. Browne); and Councillors M. Browne, H. Smyth and Walsh.
In attendance:
- Mr. B. Flynn, Business Support Assistant
Minutes
The minutes of the meeting of 7th February, which had been printed and circulated, were taken as read and signed as correct.
Schools’ Anti-Drugs Poster Competition
The Working Group considered the undernoted report in respect of the recent Schools’ Anti-Drugs Poster Competition.
A number of Members commended the exceptionally high standard and number of entries received and suggested that the Council should seek to publicise the success of the competition. A further Member suggested that the Council should acknowledge all of the competition entrants by awarding them a small badge which would include the Council logo, together with a message advocating a drugs-free Belfast.
In response, the Business Support Assistant indicated that he would investigate the feasibility of the suggestions and submit a report thereon to the Group’s meeting in April.
After further discussion, the Working Group adopted the recommendations contained within the foregoing report and chose the twelve entries to be awarded prizes.
